In the last few years, the Liquid Facelift has been gaining popularity and exposure as a non-surgical alternative for rejuvenation the face.

A Liquid Facelift is a relatively painless procedure involving the use of advanced dermal fillers, usually in combination with BOTOX® to lift and contour the facial features while reducing wrinkles. The procedure takes about an hour to perform and offers little to no recovery time. As a non-surgical procedure, the Liquid Facelift lacks the risks of invasive surgical procedures, brings small risks common to any injection procedure, such as temporary redness, tenderness, bruising or swelling.

Facial Contouring with Injectables

BOTOX® relaxes the muscles responsible for producing wrinkles and helps diminish the appearance of wrinkles. It also helps provide lift and helps extend the results of injectable fillers. Injectable fillers such as Juvederm™, Radiesse®, Restylane®, Perlane® and Sculptra® replace lost volume in the face or help the body regenerate its own collagen.

Sculptra® in particular is a long lasting, clinically-proven treatment than can smooth deep lines and wrinkles and restore facial volume, producing gradual, long-lasting results. Sculptra® is an injectable dermal filler that stimulates the build up of the body’s own collagen to increase volume, smoothing out lines and wrinkles.

When used conservatively, the combination of these two types of treatments can restore youthfulness to the eye area, restore shape and fullness to the cheeks, reduce jowl lines or otherwise address a variety of wrinkles, folds and lines associated with signs of aging.

As with any injectable procedure, make sure your provider is a licensed physician, preferably a board certified plastic surgeon or qualified dermatologist who is trained and experienced in the use of BOTOX® and injectable dermal fillers. Avoid combining too many procedures: laser treatments, microdermabrasion, chemical peels or other similar skin treatments are not recommended in conjunction with dermal filler treatments. Be sure to fully disclose your medical history, including any existing medical conditions and/or medications you may be taking with your doctor.

And ALWAYS make sure your physician uses FDA-approved dermal fillers produced and available in the United States. See our recent blog entry on "Injectable Safety" for more information.
