The Thigh Lift (Thighplasty) is a body contouring procedure for men and women who want to remove excess skin and fat in their thighs and knees. Patients who have lost massive amounts of weight due to weight loss or bariatric surgery and now have excess skin, fat and flab in the thighs that cannot be relieved by diet and exercise are excellent candidates for this "post-bariatric plastic surgery" procedure.
National Average Cost of Thigh Lift: $4,629.00A Thigh Lift can be performed along with other surgical procedures such as liposuction, or as part of a total body or lower body lift. Thigh Lift surgery is designed to produce firm, slimmer and more contoured thighs with a more taut appearance. Click Here to Find a Thigh Lift Surgeon in Your Area
Types of Thigh Lift Procedures
Plastic surgeons can perform different variations of the Thigh Lift depending on your goals and needs. The type of Thigh Lift surgery you choose to undergo often depends on the quality of your skin, the areas requiring treatment and the amount of fat and/or skin that needs to be removed.
Inner Thigh Lift (Medial Thigh Lift)
An Inner Thigh Lift addresses sagging or loose skin and excess fat around the inner thigh area caused by the aging process or extreme weight loss. During an Inner Thigh Lift, an incision is made between the thigh and crease of the buttock to the pubic area in the groin fold. Excess skin and fat is removed and the skin is lifted and pulled taut before the incision sutured. This tightening of the skin improves the contour of the thighs by making the inner thigh area more firm and flat.
Outer Thigh lift (Bilateral Thigh Lift)
A Bilateral Thigh Lift procedure tightens skin on the front and outside of the thigh. During a Bilateral Thigh Lift, an incision is made at the top of the thigh following the line where a bathing suit or pair of underwear would be and the excess skin is removed. The surgeon then pulls the skin taut and sutures it to the incision area. This is an effective procedure for those with excess skin resulting from a dramatic weight loss. An Outer Thigh Lift smoothes and firms the front of the thighs and produces a smooth outward curve to the outer thighs.
Vertical Thigh Lift (Vertical Thighplasty)
A Vertical Thigh Lift is an extensive Thigh Lift most often used on post-bariatric plastic surgery patients who find that their thigh areas sag heavily due to significant amounts of fat and loose skin. The Vertical Thigh Lift involves a vertical incision that starts at the groin crease and extends to the inner knee. The resulting scars are visible when the inner thighs are exposed while wearing a bathing suit, shorts, short dress or mini-skirt. During a Vertical Thigh Lift, your surgeon removes a wedge of skin from the inner thigh.
Spiral Thigh Lift (Circumferential Thighplasty)
Spiral thighplasty improves the laxity of the front, back, inner and outer thighs by combining Thigh Lift techniques with those of a lower body lift. During a spiral thighplasty procedure, an incision is made below the buttocks and continues into the groin crease. Additional incisions over the groin crease and on the upper thigh allows for the surgeon to excise excess skin and fat from the thighs in order to address all areas of the thigh. A Spiral Thigh Lift is typically used on those who have lost massive amounts weight and require treatment to more than one area of the thigh.
