An S-Lift is an alternative to the traditional Facelift and is a type of mini-facelift designed to provide an overall lift to the lower third of the face and neck, improving the appearance of the cheeks, jowls, and contour of the chin and neckline.
The S-Lift is named for the "S" shape incision that's made along the area just forward of the ear. Like a traditional facelift, the skin is lifted, excess fat is removed and the underlying muscles and tissues are tightened and repositioned. The main advantage of an S-Lift over a traditional facelift is the quicker recovery time gained from using shorter incisions. This technique however also limits the effectiveness of an S-Lift facelift to those patients with mild to moderate laxity of skin along the neck and jawline, and mild to moderate wrinkles and facial folds.
An S-Lift usually takes 1 - 2 hours to perform and is usually performed under general anesthesia or a combination of local anesthesia and sedation. Recovery time is less than that of a traditional facelift but is still required. Some patients may opt to resume work after 2-3 days while many resume normal activities after 1 week. Sunscreen should be used and direct sun should be avoided for several weeks following the procedure.
Both men and women generally between the ages of 30-50, who are in good general health and preferably non-smoking, with mild to moderate skin laxity in the lower face and neck, mild to moderate jowl or marionette lines and mild to moderate wrinkles, creases and facial folds are candidates for an S-Lift.
Average cost for Liposuction: $4000 - $7,000
If you're interested in an S-Lift, facelift or other cosmetic procedure, you should consult with a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon or cosmetic surgeon in your area.
