CoolSculpting
What to Expect
The CoolSculpting procedure is performed in a doctor’s office, typically under the supervision of a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. After the patient and doctor select elect the area(s) to be treated, the patient is seated comfortably or lies down and the one to three hour procedure begins.
A non-invasive applicator is applied to the skin surface and the device gently draws the fat bulge up between two cooling panels. These two cooling panels deliver precisely controlled cooling to target and eliminate fat cells in specific areas of the body. When the device draws the fat bulge in, the sensation is described as firm tug and pull.
As the panels go to work in the first few minutes, the patient feels a sensation of intense cold that soon dissipates.
Fat cells crystallize at warmer temperatures than other cells, so the process doesn’t produce a level cold that can harm other tissue such as skin, muscle, and nerves. The CoolSculpting procedure is comfortable for most patients; they can read, work on their laptop computer, listen to music or just relax and take a nap. After the one to three hour procedure is completed, your body takes over the natural process of eliminating the treated fat cells - this process produces natural looking results that are typically visible in patients in about two to four months.
