Side Effects and Risks

During recovery patients of Male Breast Reduction can experience side effects such as swelling, bruising, discomfort, minor bleeding and mild to moderate pain. These are all normal reactions to the procedure. Male Breast reduction carries the same risks of complications common to other surgical procedures such as risk of infection or an adverse reaction to anesthesia.

Complications

While uncommon, complications from Male Breast reduction can include: infection, excessive fluid loss, rippling of the skin, an unnatural or obvious, but correctable asymmetry of the breasts, temporary loss of sensation or feeling in the breasts or nipples that may become permanent, excessive scarring, pigmentation changes, poor wound healing (uncommon in healthy, non-smoking patients) and hematoma - a serious problem involving collection of blood under the skin.
