Necklift

What happens after you meet your surgeon?

After your questions are discussed with the doctor, you will most likely speak with the patient care or surgical coordinator to decide on a day and time for your surgery and receive a quote. Many practices will perform a necklift within a nearby hospital, accredited office-based surgery center, or an ambulatory surgery center outside of the office. Once you book your necklift you may be asked to get certain lab work performed, receive a medical evaluation from your internist or surgeon, stop smoking prior to surgery, and discontinue the use of aspirin, herbal supplements, and other drugs that may increase bleeding prior to your necklift.

You should leave your doctor’s office with a solid understanding of necklift, step by step instructions on what to do the night before and morning of surgery, post-operative care instructions, and consents to sign and return regarding anesthesia and your neck rejuvenation procedure(s). Before your necklift you will want to arrange for someone to drive you to and from surgery and to stay with you for at least the first night after your necklift. A post-op care facility focused on plastic and cosmetic surgery patients may be an option.

A necklift procedure usually requires only one office visit and generally takes 2-3 hours to perform. Necklifts are done under general or regional anasthesia, light sleep sedation or under local anasthesia with an oral sedative depending on the patient's needs and extensiveness of the necklift.

During a necklift, your plastic surgeon will generally make small incisions behind the ears and uner the chin area. The complex process of reshaping the neck is performed under the skin through these small incisions. This process may combine one or more techniques and may involves the liposuction of fat deposits, tightening or restructuring of the neck muscles and the removal of excess skin.
