Rhinoplasty (Nose Reshaping)

Side Effects and Risks

The most common side effects of Rhinoplasty (nose job) surgery are bruising and swelling, both of which are concentrated around the eyes. Bruising typically subsides after two weeks and can be camouflaged with make-up following Rhinoplasty. Swelling reaches its worst point within 3 days and normally subsides within two weeks. Minor swelling may persist for up to six months following a rhinoplasty (nose job) with residual, almost unnoticeable swelling lasting up to a year or more.

Complications

Other risks associated with Rhinoplasty (nose job) surgery are infection, hematoma (a collection of blood under the skin), numbness, scarring at the base of the nose, damage to small, surface blood vessels or permanent nerve damage.

In some cases there may be an over- or under-correction of the nose requiring an additional "revision" rhinoplasty (nose job) to achieve the desired look.
